10 Most Fuel-Friendly Crossovers, SUVs for 2012

Finally someone has made a list that had to be made: a list of the most fuel-efficient SUVs and crossovers of 2012. And, this writer thinks that the figures contained upon this list will shock, for while historically SUV’s have been many things, gas-friendly is not one of them. However, this list has some rather impressive mile-per-gallon ratings.

The list was compiled using the Environmental Protection Agency’s mpg rations for city, highway and combined driving. The most fuel-efficient SUVs and crossovers of 2012 are:

  • Ford Escape Hybrid getting 34/31/32 mpg city, highway, combined
  • Lexus RX 450h, 32/28/30
  • Nissan Juke, 27/32/29
  • Toyota Highlander Hybrid, 28/28/28
  • Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, 25/31/27
  • Chevrolet Equinox, 22/32/26
  • GMC Terrain, 22/32/26
  • Honda CR-V, 23/31/26
  • Hyundai Tucson, 23/31/26
